There are three major favorites when it comes to Mexican fast food. Willy’s, Moe’s and Chipotle are a fan favorite at Wesleyan and across the United States. Green and Gold surveyed thirty students from each grade and thirty teachers with the gender count split evenly.
The freshmen preferred Moe’s, sophomores preferred Moe’s, juniors preferred Moe’s, and seniors preferred Willy’s. The faculty preferred Willy’s as well. The survey gave insight on which Mexican fast food place was each grade’s favorite, even if it was a small percentage of the class. This applied to the teachers as well with their vote and preference counting just as much as the students.
First in line is Moe’s Southwest Grill. Junior and Moe’s enthusiast Ryan Gomes said, “During the summer I usually go about four times a week and the best part about Moe’s is their salsa bar, queso and their special greeting, Welcome to Moe’s!!”
Not only does Moe’s have killer queso and the freestyle Coke machine but they have also recently claimed victory to the burrito challenge. Their opponents are Willy’s Mexicana Grill, Chipotle Mexican Grill, and Qdoba Mexican Eats. When asked about how the experience of the burrito challenge made him feel, Senior Jeb Brown said, “The burrito challenge made me feel good in the heart but bad in the stomach…I had four burritos and an AM crunch wrap.” He continued on the subject of the winner of the competition and said, “Moe’s won this year. It was a total robbery. It was all of the amateur burrito eaters that came down from Athens and Rome—everybody knows Willy’s has the best burrito.”
Chipotle Mexican Grill recently announced an exciting announcement about a new addition to the menu: queso will be added to the menu very soon. According to Huffington post, the new “Tex-mex” style queso is only available in the public test kitchen as of right now, but should be making its way to restaurants soon. Junior Sofia Vallejo said, “Regarding the new queso, I am so excited and I love it so much—Chipotle will now be absolutely perfect.”
Willy’s Mexicana Grill is the last place on the list. Willy’s is famous for their burritos of course but also for their nachos. When asked about what the best thing on the menu is Junior Bennet Harrison said, “I love Willy’s, and I get the Frito Burrito.” Along with Moe’s, Willy’s was also founded in Atlanta.
Not only do these restaurants offer quality food, but they also appear within a three-mile radius from Wesleyan. Moe’s, Willy’s, and Chipotle will be loved by people of Wesleyan for years to come.
