Junior Girl Scouts Amanda Doane, Olivia Curran and Mary Ann Manley have shown their commitment to serving the community for over ten years. From all the early morning field trips to the local soup kitchen, cookie sales and getting badges, these three girls have reached the home stretch. Doane, Curran and Manley have put in several hours and hard work into being a Girl Scout. Their hard work is about to pay off. One of the most unique aspects of Wesleyan is the Alumni Fund. Wesleyan alumni will always be loved among the community. They are the ones who have shaped Wesleyan to be what it is today. Students will always remember their special time at Wesleyan; whether that is in the classroom, on the field or spending quality time building a friendship. Teachers and faculty are people that students will never forget. Those are the people who students look up to as role models and mentors. The Varsity boy’s baseball team uses games and activities to bring their team closer together. Head Coach Brian Krehmeyer said, “Our plan differs each year, but activities we have engaged in to build team chemistry includes on-campus scavenger hunts, basketball and volleyball and ping pong tournaments, the challenge of escaping from a break-out room, battles on the Whirly Ball court, laser tag games, paint ball wars, putt-putt golf, and races around Andretti.” It is crucial to establish a close knit bond so the “one body” theme can be exhibited. Junior Griffin Massey said, “We have a tradition of going to Willy’s after every win, they kind of sponsor us.” Traditions that consist of food related activity always brings a group together because of the shared love of a particular thing.
Officer Dan Llorens, some may know him as the officer who never misses a waving opportunity when he sees you, or the one who brightens your day in the morning with his music peacefully playing and echoing throughout campus. Although those attributes are very valuable, it is crucial to look behind the scenes and under the surface in order to identify additional qualities of someone that aren’t as visible as others. Not only does Officer Llorens exhibit great enthusiasm for life day to day, he is also a man of his word, who is devoted to his family, to God and to his job.
