This new program, called distance learning, has been used as an outlet for teachers to engage with students online, assigning homework and assessments on the school’s website. The main question everyone is asking is, “Will distance learning be the best possible method to engage students in the virtual classroom?”

2020 Oscars: A Historic Night in Film

2019 was an important year in film. From big-budget blockbusters such as “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and “Avengers: Endgame,” to biopics such as “Rocketman” and “Harriett,” audiences were entranced by stellar performances and original stories, as well as cutting-edge visual effects. On Feb. 9, the 92nd Academy Awards were held, and historic achievements were made that left members in the audience and viewers watching at home astonished.

What college are you going to/ applying to?

Who was your first Wesleyan crush? When?

Sean Casey in fifth grade.

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you bring with you?

A water bottle, snacks (specifically Oreos) and my pillow.

What was your dream job when you were a little kid versus what is your dream job now?

My dream job when I was little was to be a teacher. My dream job today is probably to work in an event management business.

Where do you expect to see yourself in 10 years?

In a job that I love, successful and possibly starting a family.

What was your most embarrassing moment at Wesleyan?

During sophomore year, my whole family got these tiny safety alarms and whenever you press the button, the alarm will go off with a very loud sound. I put this alarm in my school backpack. One day after lunch, my friends and I were sitting down in the hallway, and I had my backpack on. I leaned on my backpack and the alarm went off. Everyone was worried and thought it may be an alarm the school set off for some emergency. I then had to dig through my bag for about five minutes while it was still on and finally found the alarm to turn it off. Everyone asked me what was wrong after that, and it was the most embarrassing five minutes of my life.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Beef tacos with rice and beans or spaghetti.

What are you most excited and scared for when entering your first year of college?

I am most excited to meet new people and find more friends outside the “Wesleyan bubble.” I am most scared that I will be homesick for the first couple of weeks or that the classwork will be really difficult.

Lindsay Rappe in kindergarten.

If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you bring with you?

A phone, a cellular tower and Braden Thorne’s angelic vocals.

What was your dream job when you were a little kid versus what is your dream job now?

Actor versus Actor.

Where do you expect to see yourself in 10 years?

Being an actor.

What was your most embarrassing moment at Wesleyan?

One time, I forgot to come onstage for a good seven minutes and the cast was running around looking for me. The orchestra was playing in a vamp for the whole time and the audience was incredibly confused. They found me later just hanging out upstairs. Also, I never went on stage. Carter Gravitt just said my lines.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be? Sushi.

What are you most excited and scared for when entering your first year of college?

Saying goodbye to my friends of old.

Disney Plus and the New Age of Streaming

In this new age of technology, people have the opportunity to access millions of digital content on various mobile devices. One such content source is streaming applications, which has been a beneficial alternative to going to the movie theatre. People can just pull up Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime or HBO Go and have access to a wide variety of movies, television series and original content. A genius idea for the new millennium, but is this hurting the way people see movies? Have people changed their ways so dramatically that streaming is the new form of viewing cinema?
