Wolves Grow Out Their Fur

in Features by

Think of your favorite November traditions. What comes to mind? Thanksgiving? Football? Celebrating Christmas at full force even though it’s only been one day since Halloween? There is one tradition that is often shunned and forgotten: No Shave November.

No Shave November is the sacred birthright of men everywhere. It was originally founded in the archaic year of 2009. It was started as a way to raise awareness for cancer, specifically prostate cancer. Each year there are over 150,000 new cases of this disease, and it is not slowing down any time soon. No Shave November is just a small way for an average person to make a difference. Participants in No Shave November are encouraged to donate the money they would spend on grooming products to charity instead. This year’s charities are the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer and St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

Although Wesleyan may have stripped away this rite of masculinity from us students during the school year, there is no restriction on students during the summer or teachers year-round. Let’s take a moment to appreciate some of the most bodacious beards Wesleyan has to offer.

Reality or Fantasy (Football)?

in Sports by

Many Wesleyan students start to seem distracted every year come Fall. For many, September is the most important month of the year. Why you ask? Labor Day weekends at the lake with friends? Nope. The beginning of Fall and the feel of crunching leaves underneath your feet? Nope. Starting to get spooky in preparation for Halloween? Possibly, but none of these things even come close to the level of commitment and excitement that fantasy football awakens in Wesleyan students every September.

Getting a “Handel” on the District 6 Election

in News by

Two months ago, it was impossible to avoid campaign ads if you were anywhere near the 6th district. Everywhere you went it seemed you couldn’t escape this election. No matter where you would go, you’d be bombarded with the sound of campaign ads, phone calls and whatever else they could throw at you. Why was this one election so important compared to the rest of the local elections?

This election was so vital because it would be indicative of what the next four years of life in the United States would be like. Jon Ossoff represented change and the ability for Democrats to oppose what they don’t support in Trump. He hoped to flip the historically Republican 6th District and set an example for the rest of the country to follow.
