What colleges are you applying to? I’m going to Auburn next year.

Who was your first Wesleyan crush? Josh Price.

What was your most embarrassing Wesleyan moment? Sophomore year at a football game, I was in the middle of tumbling in front of the run-through banner, and the football team ran though earlier than we expected so I was not out of the way yet, and then I ended up running in the middle of a group of football players the rest of the way to cause less chaos… it was so scary.

What will you miss most about Wesleyan? The community.

What is one thing you wished you had done in High School? Diving.

What are three things you cannot live without? Music, strawberries and blankets.

What was your dream job when you were a little kid versus what is your dream job now? When I was little I thought I could be a cheerleader my whole life, so that was my dream job, but then I realized that that is not possible, so I decided my dream jobs were to be a teacher and a cheerleading coach. Now my dream jobs are a physical/occupational therapist and a special ed teacher. Keep Reading

This season of sports has truly been one for the record books as many incredible and memorable events have transpired in the Wesleyan community. In two fall sports this season Wesleyan made a run for the state championship in the single A classification. Thanks to the hard work of the athletes and the leadership of their coaches, the Wolves have once again achieved excellence in the opening season of the school year.

For starters, in Columbus, Georgia on Oct. 28, the Wesleyan softball team played in the class A state championship against Tattnall Square Academy. This match was a nail biter as both teams were exceptionally skilled and well prepared for their respective opponent. By the bottom of the eighth inning the score was 4-4 with Wesleyan freshman Reece Holbrook at bat, the tension was high as the wolves already had two outs. “I knew that I needed to go all out. It was all or nothing. I also knew that it would most likely be my last at bat as a freshman, so I wanted to make it good.”  With the final pitch Holbrook hit a walk off home run and claimed the championship victory for the Wolves.

How to “Make” Someone’s Christmas

in Features by

As Christmas rolls around, everyone races to find the perfect gift for their loved ones. However, as high school students, we often have higher expectations for these gifts than the reality of our wallets and schedules can meet.

Senior Cassie Henning said, “Though buying gifts is easier, it often costs more than making them.” Not only is it more cost effective, but junior Chloe Hangartner said that “it’s often more meaningful to my friends to make a gift, rather than buying one.”

Like Henning and Hangartner, over the past few years, I have switched from shopping to creating and it has made all the difference. This holiday season, if you are looking for a gift that will impress, try one of these low-cost, simple DIY (do-it-yourself) ideas:

Varsity Softball in Full Swing

The softball team is ready to bring home their first state championship. Wesleyan has moved down to class A, meaning, there will be multiple unfamiliar opponents.

The softball team will have to adjust their strategies as they will be competing against new teams. However, with six seniors on the varsity team, they have plenty of experience and will be able to make the adjustment.
