Wesleyan’s 2019 New Faculty

Where did you attend college? University of Mississippi, Ole Miss.

Why did you choose Wesleyan School? Right after my interview, I knew I wanted to be here. Wesleyan felt like a perfect fit. Although academics are important, I love how Christian values are a big part of Wesleyan too.

What is your role at Wesleyan? I teach Algebra 1 & 2 and coach the 7th grade girls’ basketball team.

How did you hear about Wesleyan? Family friend connection.

What do you normally look forward to on the weekends? Spending time with my daughter, usually attending some sporting event and church on Sunday.

What is your favorite Bible verse or quote? Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

What was your favorite vacation? My two week cruise to Italy, Greece and Turkey.

Girls’ Basketball Team: Journey to State

After a season full of rebounding, blocking and shooting, the girls’ basketball team’s season ended at the Macon Centreplex on March 6. From October through March, the team invested several hours after school and on weekends improving their basketball skills.

The team officially began their season back in November against Pace Academy and were victorious against them with a win of 64-21. The team was always on the move, as they traveled to different schools for games and tournaments.

Freshman Kaylynn Kirklen said, “My favorite memory from basketball was being in the locker room and dancing with the team before both home and away games.”

The Enneagram Test is a personality test that is considered to be a test that shows your basic personality type. From one point of view, the Enneagram can be seen as a set of nine distinct personality types, with each number on the Enneagram representing one type of personality. It is common to find a little of yourself in all nine of the types, although one of them should stand out as being closest to yourself.

  1. Where did you go to college/what is your degree? Oglethorpe University in Brookhaven, Ga. And a B.S. in Biology.
  2. What made you want to work at Wesleyan? After I interviewed, I wanted to work at Wesleyan because. . . It is the best place to work, I met incredible people, we can worship and talk about God here, I like green and gold, I love biology and environmental science, and the teaching position available was for those courses, It is close to home and It was an answer to a prayer.
  3. What are three things you can’t live without? God, a planner, and coffee.
  4. If your life were a movie, what actor would you cast as yourself? My life would not be a movie. It would be a book because some things can’t be captured in movies. Words are more powerful and descriptive. If my life were a book, I would like F. Scott Fitzgerald or King Solomon to write that book.
  5. What is something you wish you had done in high school?
  6. If you weren’t a teacher, what would you do? Be a student. I love to learn.
  7. Where is the coolest place you have ever traveled? Charleston, SC. It was my honeymoon destination. Also, Charleston is beautiful and historic. It’s like traveling back in time with a lot of color.
