Lady Wolves Hit Off Season

The Lady Wolves’ softball team has started off the year undefeated. They have risen to the top and are determined to stay there. They just can’t be beat and are preparing every day to return to Columbus again for gold. They have a new Junior Varsity team as well as their 2017- 2018 state championship winning Varsity team.

When asked about the exciting addition, head coach Mary Stephenson said, “I love it, it’s fantastic! I think it’s great for our program, and I am very proud of it. It’s good to provide developmental opportunities for players at different places with their experience level. I also believe that it helps support the long-term future of our team.” Keep Reading

Alumni Athletes Inducted into Circle of Honor

The Athletic Circle of Honor is a program that is dedicated to honor the alumni athletes that performed tremendously during their time at Wesleyan. Each year since 2007, athletes have been inducted after holding a rigorous process. Inductees must be a graduate of at least five years, earned a varsity leader in each of the sports they participated in and must have exhibited excellent abilities in their sports during their time at Wesleyan. Freshman Kaylynn Kirklen said, “The Circle of Honor is for the alumni who have shown honor and dedication to Wesleyan through athletics and have impacted the community through their sports by winning state championships or breaking records.” Keep Reading

Ending the last softball season with a State Championship set the bar high for the 2018 season; however, the Wesleyan Softball season has gone above and beyond with their season so far.

The team kicked off the road to state with a Region Championship win for the sixth year in a row, and they are entering into the state tournament in the first seed. The Wolves defeated Landmark Christian School 7-2 and junior Madison Kerpics pitched the entire games, “while striking out 18 people to earn the win in the circle” (Gwinnett Prep Sports). “Our team really worked together to win the region game. Everyone played well and our ability to work together is what really helped us throughout that game and the season,” said senior Savannah Sommer. The win for the team was impressive, but what came with the win was even better. “After the game, we got new golden cleats as a deal with our coaches, which was almost as great as winning the game,” said senior Jennifer Nolan.

Christian Life Theme: Your Kingdom Come

Every year, Director of Christian Life, Greg Lisson, introduces the new theme at the first All School Chapel of the year. This chapel is filled with many special traditions: senior Evergreens (students that have been at Wesleyan Kindergarten – 12^th grade) walk down the kindergartens, the chapel band is mixed with students from different divisions and many loved ones come to welcome and celebrate in the new school year.

This year, the theme is Your Kingdom Come. Every month, one aspect of the theme will be broken down and focused on by the middle and high school chapel speakers. Topics such as grace, truth, beauty and justice will be filled to complete the phrase. Lisson began the year with Your Kingdom Come. Next month, the topic will be, Your Grace Come.

Lisson shares that the theme was inspired by the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:10. Jesus talks about how he his desire for earth is to have features from similar to ones in Heaven. Lisson said, “All kingdom values and virtues are given to us by God; it is our job to pass His message on to the people around us.”
