Digging Deep into Cross Country Season
Wesleyan School cross country runners are digging deep into the fall athletic season. With football, volleyball, cheer-leading and more, not many are aware of the vast percentage of high school students who participate in cross country. Although there has only been four meets so far, the Wesleyan cross country team has started off strong.
At the Battle of Atlanta, many of the runners achieved season personal records, or for sophomore Danielle Kelly, a lifetime record. The Battle of Atlanta in Hampton, GA, was the team’s first away meet of the season on Sep. 24. This was Wesleyans first time competing in this particular meet, and the results were outstanding. Overall, the team placed nine out of 31 GHSA teams. The boys are on fire this season and are on the road to their overall goal of the season, going to state on Nov. 2. Forty-nine boys on the team set season personal records at the Battle of Atlanta, which is unbelievable. Of course, this couldn’t have been possible without the guidance and constant motivation from the coaches. Keep Reading

Wet Wolves Take State
The Wesleyan Wet Wolves competed in the State Swim and Dive Meet at Georgia Tech Feb. 8 and 9. The boys team placed fourth and the girls finished third.
“My general goal as a coach is for the swimmers to reach our full potential, we did that,” said Head Coach Kevin Kadzis. This state team was the smallest team in years, but they did not fail to come out of the two day meet with medals around their necks. “Certain things do not change in a season, but the unique mix of people make each season different and memorable,” said Kadzis.

Alumni Support the 2018 Wesleyan Fund
One of the most unique aspects of Wesleyan is the Alumni Fund. Wesleyan alumni will always be loved among the community. They are the ones who have shaped Wesleyan to be what it is today. Students will always remember their special time at Wesleyan; whether that is in the classroom, on the field or spending quality time building a friendship. Teachers and faculty are people that students will never forget. Those are the people who students look up to as role models and mentors. Single A, but Double State Championship Appearances
This season of sports has truly been one for the record books as many incredible and memorable events have transpired in the Wesleyan community. In two fall sports this season Wesleyan made a run for the state championship in the single A classification. Thanks to the hard work of the athletes and the leadership of their coaches, the Wolves have once again achieved excellence in the opening season of the school year.
Softball
For starters, in Columbus, Georgia on Oct. 28, the Wesleyan softball team played in the class A state championship against Tattnall Square Academy. This match was a nail biter as both teams were exceptionally skilled and well prepared for their respective opponent. By the bottom of the eighth inning the score was 4-4 with Wesleyan freshman Reece Holbrook at bat, the tension was high as the wolves already had two outs. “I knew that I needed to go all out. It was all or nothing. I also knew that it would most likely be my last at bat as a freshman, so I wanted to make it good.” With the final pitch Holbrook hit a walk off home run and claimed the championship victory for the Wolves.
