Dear Sophie, Quinn, Alayna, Melany and Kat:
Teaching you has been a true blessing. I am grateful to you all for your endless encouragement. We were new to the high school together and have, in many ways, shared the experience. You have cheered me on in life’s joyous moments and provided comfort in its tragedies.
During the month of April, different exciting events come up such as the high school spring play, prom, the artist market and more. These events increase the enthusiasm of teachers and students as they can see that the end of the school year is near. When the term slavery comes up in today’s culture, it is easy to think of it as a crime of the past. But in fact, it is the exact opposite. The estimated number of slaves around the world today is around 40 million, which is higher than it was when slavery was legal throughout the 19th century. And the number of enslaved people is constantly increasing. Today, slavery is the fastest growing crime in the world (End It Movement).
