The Wesleyan Cross-Country team started with the sound of a gun, running full force into their new season. As cool as that would be, their season took off on July 30th at eight in the morning with a three-hour bus ride to Wilderness at the Smokey’s in Pidgeon Forge, TN.
With the summer comes a lot of different things: sunburns, vacations and beards, if you are a boy. One major component of summer is music. The Green & Gold decided to ask high school students of every grade to share their summer favorites.
These songs include both old and new songs. Some of the old songs include: “We Didn’t Start the Fire” by Billy Joel, “Box of Rain” by Grateful Dead and “Take me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver. Some of the new songs include “The Middle” by Zedd, “No Tears Left to Cry” by Ariana Grande and “Speechless” by Dan + Shay.
“There’s a hundred and four days of summer vacation/ ‘Till school comes along just to end it/So the annual problem for our generation/ Is finding a good way to spend it…”
Both the boys and girls’ cross country teams have shown an especially promising start during their pre-season training camp this year.
Wesleyan students have been forced to come to an inevitable conclusion: summer has drawn to a close.
Some may consider the arrival of a new school year a blessing, but to many, even the thought of new textbooks and OneNote notebooks is enough to send them over the edge.
Regardless of their standpoint on the situation, the students can agree that a few months without school is nothing short of a blessing. So in order to quench your thirst of anything “summer,” a few students have agreed to share some of their experiences on vacation during their past few months of euphoria.
