Fall Sports Recap 2019

As the winter season of 2019 approaches, the Wesleyan fall sports are coming to an end. Each team has trained hard over the summer into the fall to complete a successful season that has made Wesleyan proud. Each team has shown dedication to their sport and the school by training rigorously to gain both victories and humbling experiences this fall. The outcome of each of these five sports has made this season one of Wesleyan’s best.

Water Polo:

The water polo team has just ended their best season since 2015, with an impressive eight wins, eight losses and one tie out of their seventeen games. Coach Kevin Kadzis said success was achieved this season from commitment by the team to playing their unique style of water polo. Kadzis said their best game took place in September, when the team beat Collins Hill High School even though they were down one player, and it was “awesome to see our team work together and overcome the odds to beat a good team when we were at a disadvantage.” The season started right after school began in August and ended on Sept. 29, and Kadzis said seniors Connor Beaty, Will Miller, Jack Godfrey and Isaiah Erb were the team’s leaders. Kadzis said, “We couldn’t have had a non-losing season without these guys,” showing the enthusiasm and diligence of this season’s water polo team. Keep Reading

Fall Senior Signing: Wesleyan Student Athletes Continue Their Athletic Careers

With all the talent Wesleyan students have, it is bound to happen that some may commit to play sports at the collegiate level. Each season, there is a signing ceremony where certain athletes officially commit and are celebrated for their athletic accomplishments. This fall, five senior girls participated in the ceremony, playing sports like lacrosse, softball, volleyball and basketball. Each athlete has been playing their sports for many years and are all excited to play at a collegiate level. Keep Reading

Volleyball Sets Up for A New Season

The Wesleyan varsity volleyball team has been preparing for the upcoming season over the summer. With new additions to the team and a new attitude, the volleyball team is excited about the new season. Over the summer, the team had to attend workouts and start practicing.

Junior Grace Tyler said, “We have to attend at least 12 workouts during the summer, it really helps!” Along with workouts, they have been practicing almost every day to prepare themselves to be the best they can be.

Although practice and workouts are challenging, the team had a well-deserved pool party at Senior Madison McKemie’s house. The girls engaged in some super fun games for team bonding and enjoyed some yummy food. The team bonding was a huge success and the team is closer than ever.

Wolves Battle New Rivals in Class A

Now that Wesleyan has moved down to class A, Greater Atlanta Christian is no longer the prevailing rival for the Wolves. While there will always be tension between Wesleyan and GAC, the rivalry will no longer be settled on a field or a court. Because Wesleyan will no longer play GAC for a championship, each sport has had to choose a new team to focus on defeating. Keep Reading

Girls Volleyball Aces the Competition

Defeating the 7A Gwinnett County Mountain View Bears in their first play day on Saturday, Aug. 13, the volleyball wolves have a promising start to their season. That same day the wolves also defeated Chattahoochee, a team they were unable to beat last season.

With six seniors on the team, the wolves have a lot of depth in almost every position this season.
