From binging Netflix, to exercising, to dying hair and more, the world is being faced with an unlimited amount of free time. The Coronavirus outbreak has caused the country to go on lockdown mode, causing families everywhere to self-quarantine. Without being able to see friends, go to school or even walk down the streets in some states, society is stuck at home trying to come up with fun things to occupy their time with. It is important to keep in mind that by staying home, you are helping to contain the spread of the Coronavirus. Keep Reading

Sports are one of the great bridges of today’s society that allow people with uncommon backgrounds to connect with each other for a common purpose. In times of hardship and struggle, they give people hope and a moment of escape and, teach young men and women valuable lessons and principles, such as teamwork, humility, hard work, pride, and sportsmanship. They give people something to be inspired by. Simply put, sports, in their own way, make the world a better place. This brings up the question: What is the response of the world when such an integral part of its culture is stripped away? In recent weeks, almost every popular sports association and league has fallen victim to the outbreak of Covid-19. Thousands of athletes and fans have been relegated to the sidelines for the foreseeable future. This pandemic only seems to be getting worse, which means that the return of many major sports anytime soon seems highly unlikely. In the wake of this, executives, athletes and fans all around the world are discovering creative ways to fill the void.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, formally known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, England, announced on Jan. 8 that they will step down from their roles as senior members of the British royal family. The couple’s move to step down is informally known as “Megxit,” the nickname that branched from “Brexit,” or the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. This news shocked the UK as well as many other countries, as the couple plans to divide their time between Britain and North America. The news came as a great surprise to the royal family, and plans have been hastily formed to assist the two in leaving their positions for a new life as normal citizens. Keep Reading

On, Jan. 23, a group of Wesleyan female students went on a trip to visit the campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology. While there, they went to The Georgia Tech Women in Engineering Conference. This event helped to educate women who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering and excite them about their future in math and science. It was a great learning experience for women who are interested in a career that is generally thought of as a male-dominated career. Freshman Harris Browder said, “I think as our world progresses it is and will become easier for all women to lead in men’s role in the workplace.” Many Wesleyan students went and learned about all the different types of engineering. Sophomore Mackenzie Maxwell said, “My favorite part of the trip were the activities we did. It was a great way to get a hands-on experience and learn more about engineering.”
