Sadie “By the Seaside” a Success

in News by

There were lights hung up, leis everywhere and music blasting to make the 2016 Sadie Dance a night to remember. Although it was a chilly night, the Wesleyan “family” danced the night away like it was a summer night in the first weekend of March.

Student Government worked extremely hard to plan this dance. Because of the chance of unpleasant weather, they planned two separate dances—one in Marchman and one on the beach volleyball courts—the dance ended up being in Marchman due to the frigid temperatures.

Senior Kendall Dearth said, “This Sadie was the best on by far. Student Government did an amazing job!”

Senior Sophia Strickland, junior Lauren Alexander and junior Ashley Godwin were the head decorators while senior Chris Middleton and sophomore Daniel Salyers worked on the functional aspects of the dance.

The functional pieces include creating the bamboo wall, booking the DJ, setting the stage, buying the lights and running all the sound. The DJ this year was high school teacher, Mr. Mitchell Mayfield who displayed both musical talent and some fantastic dance moves.

When asked about the turnout of the dance, Middleton said, “I think Student Government did a great job with the set up, and we made Marchman look and feel better than it ever has!”
