Throughout life, people go through ups and downs. In America currently, and all around the globe, the world is going through a rough time all together. The coronavirus has become a pandemic that has spread throughout most of the world. It is a scary time that includes sadness, illness, death and a loss of hope. While quarantining is the best solution to stop the spread of the virus, it can get lonely and boring. This can often lead people to go into a dark place. The importance of staying positive and taking care of oneself is more important than ever, although, it is hard to do when people are stuck in their homes.

Life in quarantine has resulted in students and teachers having much more flexibility and even some free time one their hands compared to a regular day at school. Senior Hannah Steiner said, “Since I have always loved being busy, quarantine has slowed everything down. It has been nice to have a break.” With all this free time and even some levels of boredom, students and teachers have begun to develop new hobbies that they would not necessarily do if school were to be in session.

In times of hardship and struggle, they give people hope and a moment of escape and, teach young men and women valuable lessons and principles, such as teamwork, humility, hard work, pride, and sportsmanship. They give people something to be inspired by. Simply put, sports, in their own way, make the world a better place. This brings up the question: What is the response of the world when such an integral part of its culture is stripped away? In recent weeks, almost every popular sports association and league has fallen victim to the outbreak of Covid-19. Thousands of athletes and fans have been relegated to the sidelines for the foreseeable future. This pandemic only seems to be getting worse, which means that the return of many major sports anytime soon seems highly unlikely. In the wake of this, executives, athletes and fans all around the world are discovering creative ways to fill the void.
