As 2017 came to a close, 2018 appeared with a promise of new premieres for all to enjoy. Although 2017’s exquisite display of new movies and television shows blew viewers away, 2018 came equipped to exceed expectations. On top of the brand-new seasons of popular Wesleyan student favorites such as “Stranger Things,” there are other thrilling events taking place this year, such as the Winter Olympics, a royal wedding and astronauts taking steps on the moon once again. Wesleyan Students Roar for the Winter Dance

This February, Wesleyan students are trading their khaki pants (and plaid skirts) for their best 1920’s outfits in honor of the “Flappers and Fellas” themed Winter Dance. This year’s winter dance is an opportunity for the girls to ask the boys and for Wesleyan students to spend a night partying like it’s 1920.

But as players open the tiny gate and take their first steps onto the field, the excitement of competition sets in. The Golden Globe Awards Ceremony aired on Jan. 7, and was a very significant event for a variety of different reasons. Almost every actor who attended the event wore a Time’s Up badge to support and commemorate their appearance at the awards to those who were victims of sexual harassment. This movement was prompted by the large number of Hollywood actors that have been coming out with stories of being sexually harassed and abused by people in positions of power in the industry.
