LSU Dominates College Football Playoff National Championship

The Louisiana State University football team, led by Head Coach and Louisiana native Ed Orgeron, completed their undefeated season and earned the title of National Champions in this year’s College Football Playoff National Championship. The No. 1 ranked LSU Tigers faced the No. 3 ranked Clemson Tigers in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La. on Jan. 13. The LSU Tigers dominated the Clemson Tigers with a final score of 42-25.

Wesleyan faculty and students were getting excited about the game. Dawson Zimmerman, former Clemson punter and current high school English teacher, was enthusiastic about the game. Zimmerman said, “I think we’ve done a great job this season. I had some doubts coming into the year that we would be able to return back to the National Championship, but the team has done a great job of exceeding my expectations, and I am excited that we get to do it again.” Students were also very thrilled about the upcoming game. Clemson fan and sophomore Brooks Thomason said, “I hope Trevor Lawrence performs well, and of course the rest of the team, but my ultimate hope is to win the game.”

Once Upon a Time in Peachtree Corners: Students and Faculty Choose Their Favorite Movies of the Summer

Over the summer, countless students and faculty watched new movies, whether it was in theatres or digitally on Netflix. In all four grades, students picked their favorite movie and why they liked it so much. Faculty also gave their picks on their favorite flicks that they watched over the summer as well.

 #1. Spider-Man: Far From Home

The sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, where Tony Stark (Iron Man) sacrifices his life to save the entire universe. Peter Parker, still grieving his mentor’s death, takes the helm as the face of the Marvel Universe during a fateful school trip to Europe. Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jake Gyllenhaal as the mysterious Mysterio.

 #2. Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

The second to last film of legendary director Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood captures the golden age of Hollywood in the 1960s and follows the career of fictional actor Rick Dalton and his prolific stuntman, Cliff Booth. The film also follows the starting career of famed actress Sharon Tate and Cliff’s encounter with the Manson family, which connects both his and Tate’s future in Hollywood. Wolves Take on the Tundra

A group of fifty students and seven faculty chaperones traveled to Ghent, WV to spend the long weekend on the slopes. Getting a head start on the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend, the group left bright and early Friday, Feb. 18. This retreat is offered to all high school grades with the chance to sign up months in advance.

The Christian Life Ski Retreat is planned to make sure students can get the same exciting experience as previous years. Christian Life Director Alex Bufton said, “I have to book the house a year in advance,” which means that the students are going back to the same house to make more memories that will stay with them for many years to come. “A lot of time is spent planning the transportation, ski rentals and food for everyone,” said Bufton. Although the stomach bug is going around Wesleyan, Senioritis is catching up, taking masses of seniors up in its storm. Senioritis is a disease plaguing second semester seniors across the country. Although some have been infected since August, the disease is just now spreading throughout the entire Wesleyan senior class. The question is: will they make it?
