Model Arab League Competes

Proposing solutions to quandaries in foreign countries is not a typical topic of conversation for high school students, but members of Model Arab League partake in these discussions on a weekly basis. Model Arab League is a club in which students prepare for a competition at Marist School where they imitate the United Nations, offering resolutions for problems dealing with Arab countries.

Wesleyan Implements New Bus Routes

Many changes have occurred for Wesleyan within the past year like the new school store and the new student lounge, and now there is an even bigger change in Wesleyan’s near future—the new bus system. This new bus system will affect around 130 of Wesleyan’s students next year. There has been an outstanding level of interest and response to this new bus system. When Wesleyan sent out a survey to current and prospective parents, 92 current students and 36 prospective students were interested in riding the bus.

The Golden Globes Provides Many Surprises and a Few Snubs

The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards combined the best of both television and cinema for the 2015-2016 year into one awards show. Comedian Ricky Gervais returned for his fourth hosting gig, and he provided a surprisingly tame and entertaining awards entrance. Having gotten in trouble in the past, Gervais held back on a few jokes that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association would have frowned upon. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is a group of journalists responsible for picking the winners of the Golden Globes.

Open House Impresses Prospective Wesleyan Families

All of the prospective Wesleyan families were extremely impressed with the school following Wesleyan’s Open House; the day was a monumental success. On Saturday, Jan. 9th, Wesleyan hosted an open house for prospective families to tour the school in order to observe what Wesleyan is all about. Wesleyan’s goal was to impress these families so that the parents may decide to send their children to Wesleyan. Based on the feedback following the open house, Wesleyan reached and exceeded this goal.

Three Cities. Two Locations. One Heartbeat

Students flocked from near and far to the 2016 Passion Conference to kick off the new year. The annual passion conference took place on January 2-4th. The conference is a Christian gathering of eighteen to twenty five year old high school seniors and college students who participate in worship, listen to renowned speakers and join community groups with new faces from all across the world.

This year, Passion’s motto was “3 locations. 2 cities. One heartbeat.” Students gathered in both Philips Arena and Infinite Energy Arena in Atlanta and at the Toyota Center in Houston. Every sermon took place in an individual arena and was lived streamed to the others so it was live for everyone at all times. Famous Christian artists such as Rend Collective, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, Lecrae, the Passion band and many others traveled to each arena to perform.
