The Beginning and the End: Freshman Year vs. Senior Year

For many students, high school is a journey that will never be forgotten. From a geeky, nervous freshman to an over-confident, worn out senior and everything in between, the high school experience is irreplaceable.

In commemoration of Wesleyan’s 2016-  2017 school year, two surveys were conducted: one was sent out to the freshman class, while the other was sent out to the senior class. The freshman survey, containing six questions regarding the current school year, collected responses from 55 students, while the senior survey, containing eight questions regarding the current school year, collected responses from 43 students.

Women’s History Month 101

From its roots at the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 to worldwide organizations for female empowerment in 2017, the women’s rights movement has gained immense popularity, a large part of which comes from the institution of Women’s History Month.

Throughout history, females have tirelessly worked towards a common goal: gender equality. The month of March was named Women’s History Month in 1987 by Ronald Reagan and recognizes the various contributions that females have made to American history, culture and society.

Sadie season is rapidly approaching, which means the tides have officially turned. The guys get to sit back and relax, while the girls take on the role of coming up with ridiculously cheesy puns in order to ask that special someone to the dance.

This girls-ask-boys winter dance has been on Wesleyan’s annual calendar for nine years, thanks to Student Government Advisor and Student Activities Director, Brian Krehmeyer.

Krehmeyer proposed changing Sadie into a winter dance where dates were not encouraged, but the Student Government Staff overruled the vote and decided to keep the Sadie as is.
