The Community Gives Thanks

in Features by

All around the globe families and friends come together to celebrate each other and give thanks to things that they are grateful for. The “Green and Gold” staff asked students and faculty in the Wesleyan Community about their Thanksgivings, this is what they said.

Abby Johnson said, “I am thankful for coffee frothers, candles that smell like Christmas trees, Taqueria Del Sol, pumpkin muffins, a neighborhood to take walks in, Michael Bublé’s Christmas album, my car and my fiancé Mr. Holmes. Every Thanksgiving, my siblings and I used to play a game of two-hand touch football in the street every Thanksgiving. We also always watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I think my favorite Thanksgiving food has to be this Jell-O dish my mom makes with a pretzel crust; it sounds weird, but it is really good.” Keep Reading

By a Slim Margin, the Tide Defeats the Bulldogs Once Again

in Sports by

Hearts pounding. Nerves rattling. Football is just a game, right? Wrong. Tears, confetti, fans fleeing and fists in the air. One is a champion and one fell to defeat. This game was not an ordinary conference championship game. It meant more. There was history between the coaches, the teams and the fan bases. On the field, battling it out to decide the others fate, and the victorious champions of the SEC are the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Money flying in the air, did someone just waste it or spend it wisely?  Alabama and Georgia were back at it again. As for Georgia fans that phrase leaves a bitter taste in their mouths. And, for Alabama fans, it is always sweet. This was supposed to be revenge in the Benz for the dawgs, but they failed to complete the mission.

What college are you applying to / going to?

UGA, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Santa Clara and Clemson.

Who was your first Wesleyan crush?

Dylan Jenkins in 6th grade.

What was your most embarrassing Wesleyan moment?

One time I ran into the Plunks and every faculty fellow at Chipotle my sophomore year. This encounter was embarrassing as it was Halloween and I was fully committed to my costume. My costume of course, was the Ghost of George Washington. Naturally, I dressed up in a very conservative ghost costume and powdered wig that hid any shred of my identity. I looked like a little boy and quickly took off my wig for each teacher to greet them.

What is one thing you wished you had done in high school?

Dated Beau Blanton.

If you had 24 hours left to live, what would you do?

Probably throw a quick pity party, then get Chipotle and see where the wind takes me.

What was your dream job when you were a little kid versus what is your dream job now?

I always thought it would be cool to be a dolphin trainer at Sea World, but that hasn’t panned out yet, so we’ll see. Keep Reading
